Blackjack FAQs

Q - What is Blackjack?

A - Blackjack is one of the most popular casino card games. The goal of the game is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. In our single player blackjack game, no other players are involved. You play against the dealer who has the same goal as you. How do I play Blackjack? Consult our rules for more information.

Q - Can I play for play chips?

A - Yes you can. When you click on Single Player Blackjack on the game application, a menu will fold down and select the "Free Games" option.

Q - Are the rules the same as what I've experienced at the tables in Vegas?

A - Blackjack at Spotlight Poker emulates Blackjack as it is played in all major bricks and mortar casinos, including those in Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi. Consult our rules for more information.

Q - Can other players join me at the tables?

A - No. Single Player Blackjack at Spotlight Poker is played one-on-one - you against the dealer.

Q - Can I use the chips in my Spotlight Poker account to play blackjack?

A - Yes, blackjack uses the same wallet you have for poker.

Q - How can I be sure about the randomness of each shuffle?

A - We employ the same Random Number Generation system in Blackjack that has made our site world-famous for poker security and fairness. An overview of the system that we use, and the methods by which we've approached Random Number Generation and card shuffling can be found here.

Q - Do I need to download separate software to play Blackjack?

A - No. Blackjack is played in the same environment as poker at Spotlight Poker. You don't need to download any new software. If you do not have the software on your computer, download it here.

Q - Can I use my Spotlight Poker username to play Blackjack?

A - Absolutely. In fact, you need your Spotlight Poker username to access the Blackjack tables.

Q - How many decks are in the shoe?

A - There are six decks in the shoe.

Q - How far through the shoe does the deal go before the decks are shuffled again?

A - All cards will be shuffled before each hand.

Q - If player and dealer both have blackjack, what happens?

A - There are two possibilities:

  1. Player is dealt Blackjack and dealer has 10 or face card showing:
Dealer will check for Blackjack. If dealer has Blackjack, then the result is a push. No insurance will be offered prior to the dealer checking for Blackjack.
  2. Player is dealt Blackjack and dealer has an Ace showing:
Player will be offered insurance. If player does not take insurance and the dealer has Blackjack, it is a push. If player takes insurance, the dealer has blackjack, the player gets paid 2 to 1 on insurance but the main bet is still a push.

Tournament Blackjack FAQs

Q - I’ve sat down at a blackjack table with other players before. Isn’t that Tournament Blackjack?

A - No. Tournament Blackjack is a brand new and very unique style of Blackjack. Like regular Blackjack, it’s you against the dealer. But unlike regular Blackjack, you’re trying to survive by accumulating the most chips at the table all while avoiding being eliminated along the way. The player with the least amount of chips during each Tournament round is eliminated. The player who survives the final table is the champion.

Q - I’m familiar with the rules of Blackjack. Am I ready to play Tournament Blackjack?

A - You’re pretty close. When playing against the dealer, familiar Blackjack rules apply (view our rules for online Tournament blackjack). Be sure to read over our Game Highlights section for complete details on everything you need to know.

Q - If another player has a better hand than me, but I still beat the dealer, do I win the hand?

A - Yes. Just like in regular Blackjack, you play each hand against the dealer. You don’t need to concern yourself with the hand values of the other players. You are simply trying to accumulate the most chips within a set number of hands in order to survive Tournaments and ultimately win the game.

Q - What’s the deal with the Secret Bet?

A - Each player has one Secret Bet which they may use at any time. The Secret Bet is a player’s opportunity to bet strategically without revealing the value of their bet to other players. You can decide at anytime to use your Secret Bet. But remember, elimination rounds may be coming up and if you have the lowest amount of chips at the end of an elimination round, you’re out.

Q - If I lose all my chips before an elimination round, do I still get to play?

A - No. If you lose your chips, you have busted out of the tournament.

Q - Can I split my cards, double down on a hand or surrender a hand like I would in Blackjack?

A - Players may split, double down or surrender a hand as outlined in the Tournament Blackjack Rules section.

Q - I am ready to play Tournament Blackjack. How do I get started?

A - Download our free software to get started. Not only will you be able to play Tournament Blackjack, but you’ll also have access to our suite of poker games.

A - Spotlight Poker receives compensation by taking a ‘rake’, a small amount from each ring game pot. This rake from the pot never exceeds $5. At the lower limits, Spotlight Poker takes a smaller rake. For full details, please see our rake table page. There is no rake in play money games. No ‘per hand’ rake is taken in tournaments; there is only an initial fee to enter. Some tournaments do not charge a fee or a rake.

Q - Does the poker software allow me to muck the winning poker hand?
